Ring Resizing

If you have inherited a ring that doesn’t fit your finger or if your finger size has changed over the years or if you want wear your ring on an alternative finger then we can help you to enjoy wearing that beautiful ring that is stuck in its box with our ring sizing service. Our professional jewellers can resize your ring larger or smaller and on most occasions you won’t even notice that the ring has been resized. Bring out that special piece of jewellery that’s been in hibernation. If you have a Platinum, Gold or Silver (precious metal) piece. As a first port of call please fill out our online form with details and a photo of your ring and if you don’t know the finger size you need you can also request a free ring size gauge. Once we have confirmed that we can resize your ring you can post your jewellery to our workshop and once received we will confirm safe receipt. Our workshop will then inspect your ring, check the condition of the stones and make a note of any stones that need tightening we will report back with any issues that need addressing (if any) along with a fixed price and time estimate. Once your jewellery is ready we will either email you or call you to let you know. Please fill out our ring resizing form prior to posting your item as we want to make sure that we can resize your ring first before you send it to us. This is to reduce any unnecessary postage costs in the event your ring cannot be resized.

What rings can I have resized?

We can resize most rings as long as they are made from precious metals (Platinum, Gold, Silver). We cannot resize rings made of materials such as Copper, Brass, Plastic, Titanium, Steel etc. Please be aware some silver rings won’t be able to be resized without also replacing the stones as they may burn during the sizing process. We can of course replace the stones for you if you would like to go ahead. In contrast as gold has a far higher melting point, for most rings this is not a problem for gold.  Please also be aware that we cannot resize Full Eternity Rings and may not be able to size some channel set rings. In addition, silver rings which have stones set in a rub over setting won’t be able to be sized. Rub over setting means that the metal has been pushed over the stone.  To be sure please fill out the online form and upload a picture.

How much does a ring resizing cost?

Ring resizing will vary according to what needs doing (e.g. if stones need tightening or removing prior to resize), the design of the ring, the type of precious metal (if your ring is white gold then it will need rhodium plating), the number of sizes the ring needs to be made larger or smaller etc but prices start from just £35 plus postage for a simple rezize of resizing a ring one size larger. We will contact you with a fixed price once the workshop has inspected the item.

How long does a resize take?

The time will vary depending on the complexity of the resize and depending on the workload of the workshop. Some resizes can be carried out in one day, however, others may take longer if more work is required such as ordering and replacing any broken stones. We aim to have a resize completed within 1 week.

What warranty do you offer on the resize?

We guarantee all our resizing work for 6 months.

How should I send my jewellery?

We always recommend sending your jewellery by Royal Mail Special Delivery so it is insured in transit. Be sure to insure your jewellery for the correct amount as there are different levels of cover. The lowest is £500.00 and the maximum compensation is £2500 (as of July 2022). You should send your jewellery to our workshop at the following address.

LBG International Ltd, Resizing Dept, The Thorns, Mineral Lane, Chesham, Buckinghamshire, HP5 1NJ.  Please be sure to include your name, address, telephone number and email address when you send the package. If you are in the process of moving home, please ensure you give us both addresses so we can add this to your resizing file as we may need to send your ring to your new address if your resize takes longer that expected.

How do I pay for a resize?

Once your resize has been completed we will confirm by email or telephone and we will send you a link to pay online. If you prefer you can pay over the phone by calling 0800 6348570 or 01494 783699 or we can call you instead.

Can I get an estimate online?

We prefer to see your ring in person, however, we can give you a rough estimate by filling out the form. Please note that rough estimates are based on photos and may differ slightly from the fixed quote once the workshop has inspected your ring as some issues cannot be assessed without seeing it in person.
